Northridge Skateland has been operating for 50 years. For the first ten years, it was called Northridge Valley Skateland and was operated by Roy Bannister, who along with his brother Stan and Bob Eubanks also operated a chain of teen nightclubs called Cinnamon Cinder.
During the 60’s the rink doubled as a dance hall where groups like Ike and Tina Turner, Iron Butterfly and the Standells performed.
In 1968, Roy sold Skateland to Richard Fleming, a former Sears Executive who always had an interest in the sport of rollerskating. Richard’s two sons Mike and Dave helped manage the rink while attending school.
In 1978, Richard sold Skateland to his sons, and the facility is currently owned by their company, Skateland Enterprises, Inc.
To date, over seven million guests have been entertained at Skateland during public skating sessions, birthday parties, school and church events, day camp field trips and non-profit fundraisers. Our success is based largely on long-term relationships within the community and word of mouth advertising. |
